I have been 40 now for 19 days! Honestly I don’t feel any different. I thought turning 40 would be dreadful…..so far so good! Thinking about it now, 50 seems old to me so I am going to enjoy being 40 (for the time being).
Darryl took me to Ogunquit, Maine for an overnight and we had a fabulous time, spending quality time together….which is always hard with 2 little girls always craving our attention.
We dropped the girls off at my in-laws on Saturday and we went to one of our favorite restaurants for lunch, Cactus Jack’s (aka CJ’s). We LOVE their espinaca cheese dip, so we had that, and split a sandwich.
We drove to Maine and stopped into a quaint shop that one of my teacher friends owns, Pine Tree Place and Garden, and then headed to our hotel to check in.
We had a nice room with a lovely view of the ocean. We walked the Marginal Way before swimming in the pool and enjoying the hot tub(s) which were outside. It was weird not having the girls jumping all over us while we were in the pool.
We had a super nice dinner at The Steakhouse (we waited 85 minutes!) and we both enjoyed our filets and all the fixin’s.
Sunday morning we grabbed breakfast at Dunks, walked the beach, collecting shells, shielding ourselves from the wind, and again enjoying each other’s company.
After walking the beach, we ran into a few outlet stores in Kittery, and then walked around Portsmouth before having lunch at The Gaslight Company, yummy!
We finally drove back to Manchester to see our beautiful girls and to celebrate my birthday with Darryl’s side of the family, and with my FIL (his birthday is the 4th).
What a wonderful way to turn 40! I guess it isn’t all that bad after all!
Here are some pictures of our weekend…
